Dear Sirs,

Pls mail my bellow question in the L/F listserver forum:

Dear all,

There are few questions on RoHS requirements, related to RMAs of
non-RoHS products already in the field. I know the basic rule is that
spare parts for non-RoHS compliant products put on the market before
July 1st 2006 can be non-RoHS compliant and shipped after July 1 2006,
provided it is clear what they are to be used for. But still there are
few combinations of situations I am nut sure how to handle. Your help
shall be appreciated:

1. RMA of an FRU (see bellow) of a product, in case the returned
FRU sent to the customer has different S/N (replaced by a new FRU or by
formerly repaired one).
2. RMA of a product, in case the returned product sent to the
customer has different S/N (replaced by a new product or by formerly
repaired one).
3. Same as 1 but a "ship-ahead" (see bellow) was sent to the
customer before he returns the faulty FRU. What shall be the status of
the RMA, left in our warehouse for future replacement, after its repair
(RoHS wise)?
4. Same as 2 but a "ship-ahead" (see bellow) was sent to the
customer before he returns the faulty product. What shall be the status
of the RMA, left in our warehouse for future replacement, after its
repair (RoHS wise)?

FRU = Field Replaceable Units (our products are assembled from several
sub-assemblies. When such sub-assembly malfunctions, it is dismantled
from the assembly and shipped as RMA for repair).

Ship-ahead = shipping of a new replacement to the customer before the
defected unit is received in the lab for repair. This is done in cases
the customer badly need a replacement and can not wait for the repaired
product.
