If you sell the computer and the stand is part of the shippable item it has
to be compliant I believe, as it would be considered to be effectively part
of the case hardware.

If you sell a computer stand as a separately orderable SKU it does not have
to be compliant.

Just my opinion.

Subject: [LF] Table for mounting a computer within RoHS scope?

Hello everyone.

I know this forum's purpose is to discuss leadfree solder issues, but
there are some experts within this group who can answer RoHS scope
questions as well, so please pardon the topic.

If I sell a stand, made of wood, plastic and metal with an
application-specific computer; with the intent that the computer will be
affixed to the stand by the end user, does the stand have to be RoHS
compliant? If so, what if the stand is packaged separately from the
computer, does that make it a piece of furniture?

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Jon DeGenova
