If it is not an integral part of the obligated product (here the PC) and

certainly if you ship it separately it should not be considered as being

within the scope.

Do however remember that although RoHS should be applied uniformly in

all member states there have been signs of differences in

interpretation.

I'd pack it separate and call it a table. Also remember that furniture

has its own regs............

Chris

Subject: [LF] Table for mounting a computer within RoHS scope?

Hello everyone.

I know this forum's purpose is to discuss leadfree solder issues, but

there are some experts within this group who can answer RoHS scope

questions as well, so please pardon the topic.

If I sell a stand, made of wood, plastic and metal with an

application-specific computer; with the intent that the computer will be

affixed to the stand by the end user, does the stand have to be RoHS

compliant? If so, what if the stand is packaged separately from the

computer, does that make it a piece of furniture?

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Jon DeGenova
