Can you get known samples of Ti and SS?
I do not know for sure, but suspect strongly that a dilute (say 1% to 5%) solution of Ammonium Bifluoride would not attack SS rapidly enough to be noticed, but would attack Ti rapidly enough to cause visible bubbling, when it was dripped on a surface.
Try this out first, to see if my suspicions are correct.
