CAF is not so rare. We now have IPC-TM-650 CAF Test method and Handbook.

Much of the earlier work, to my understanding, was done by Dr Brian
Smith, then of Georgia Tech under the then Professorship of Dr Laura
Turbini. This work programme was done for the US Military but much of
it was published.

This was followed by a substantial CAF programme researched by NPL
and presented around the world, including IPC events.
