Jim,

The 2581 standard is the Offspring format of GenCAM and ODB++. It identifies the use of fiducials as being representative of X outs. The format specidfies "bad board mark" and "good panel mark" as elements in the XML schema that allow identification and location of the fiducials that represent those characteritics.

The vision systems first check the good panel location. If the fiducial is there, it means all the boards on the panel are good. If it is missing or covered the vision system checks the location of all the Bad Board mark fiducials. A missing or covered fiducial idicates that the adjacent board is not good.

The standard can be downloade without charge from the IPC web site.

Subject: [TN] Electrically detectable X-out marking

I am looking for a way to mark X-outs in a panel of assemblies in a way
that an ICT or functional tester can detect it. The approach I am
thinking of is to cover selected test points that the test looks at
first to see if the circuit is ok to test. A label would work, but it
could fall off. Is there some type of marking pen that is quick drying,
and puts down a film that test probes can't penetrate? Or a label that
won't fall off?
