It is not that simple - for every customer you have to figure out what the
end use is and where it fits in the Itars system. For example a missile has
its' own category, night vision another but it depends on what generation
they are. In Canada there is a central phone number you can call to get
help - must be the same in the U.S. Regards Steve

We're actually in Texas. You mention bare boards are non-controlled goods,
where is this stated in ITAR regulations?

Thanks,

Franklin

If you are a Canadian company it is mandatory to be Itars registered to do
work for U.S. primes. Paperwork takes about a day to do if you are dealing
with a non-controlled good which most bare PWB's are for the U.S. defense
industry. If you want to call me off line feel free to do so. Good luck.

Registration is costly and you will need to develop procedures to ensure
you maintain the system and assess its capabilities to meet the ITAR
stipulations. Flowing the ITAR requirements to PCB is not sensible and
it can be handled by a supplier control/audit program by the OEM. The
OEM's who do not with the take on the supplier control roles will impose
ITAR as a flow down.

Fight it.

We recently had a customer ask us why we were not ITAR registered. We
have
export control procedures and methods implemented, they communicated we
needed to be registered also.

We provide bare printed wiring boards.

To other board shops, are any of you registered?

For purchasers of bare printed wiring boards, do you require suppliers
to be
registered? If so, which section of the regulation outlines this
requirement?

Thanks,
