Good morning all,

We have a connector that is used to connect 160 kV from the power supply
to an X-ray tube. The manufacturer of the connector has no plans to
review this assembly to use lead-free solder, stating their sister
company had tried lead-free and didn't like the results.

The solder joints are encapsulated in epoxy so I would assume that tin
whiskers should be a non issue, or can they grow in epoxy as well as
air?

Where this connector is operating above 1500 Vdc should this part be
considered exempt? It is not in a medical application.

Thanks in advance.
