For moisture protection the AR coating is your best bet, provided that you
are not in a continuous submersion situation. The maximum thickness I would
accept would be .004". When you get much thicker than that, AR coatings tend
to microcrack under cold conditions. Those microcracks will eventually
become leak paths with moisture ingress.
