Hi John,
Brian is also absolutely correct when he states: "... [you] claim that the 
IPC preached "lead-free" backed up by scientific data. They preached it to be 
"with it". The IPC, in fact, may have contributed largely towards helping RoHS 
and the present situation."
I will never forget the banners and flyers for the Minneapolis IPCWorks'99 
proclaiming "GET THE LEAD OUT!"—not even a "?" anywhere; certainly no '
scientific data.' The IPC jumped on the bandwagon whole hog, much to the chagrin of 
many of its members.
