The dilemma for Dewey and IPC-4101 is that this is raw materials specs.
You might say it govern laminate mfg and incoming inspection.
BUT, it doesn't cover the APPLICATION, USE, COSTS and RELIABILITY, and it
can't.

Electronics is such a BROAD FIELD, that the simple slash sheets are going
to be applied from:
 2-sided to 40-layer,
from 18 months life to 20 years,
from 0.020" to 0.300" thickness,
from tin-lead soldering to CuSn soldering,
from no-rework to 3X rework cycles.
All of these conditions require something different from the raw laminates
and prepregs.

Dewey in the committee meeting talked about a "Finish Multilayer Standard
for Materials" that was needed, because the IPC-4101 A/B Slash Sheets
can't possibly be adjusted to cover all the cases above.

Hi Doug,
Of course I do not suggest Tg 178 instead of 175; but the slash sheets
give
ranges on the same sheet thast include Tg's with 50 degree
differences--they
should perhaps be no ore than about 20.
