Most TV reporters are the people we remember who were
sound asleep in science class. Even though the idea of
running a car on plain water is just plain silly, I'm sure the
US Patent Office gets hundreds of submittals a year on
this, along with the usual contraptions for perpetual motion
and antigravity.

Water isn't fuel, any more than wood ash is a fuel. Water is the
"ash" created when you burn hydrogen. Sure, you can drive
off the oxygen by hydrolysis, which takes electricity or some
other energy input, and get your hydrogen back, and make
a fuel that way. But thermodynamics ensures that you will
have a net energy loss in the round-trip.

I don't know why the torch wouldn't work in theory. After
separating hydrogen and oxygen by hydrolysis, you could
recombine them in a torch and burn holes in things. But
hydrogen isn't that potent a fuel - to get enough reaction
to reach a temperature "hotter than the surface of the sun",
you'd probably have to really push the pressure.

[TN] NTC Friday Posting...

Happy Friday All!

Well I'm back to work this morning after some stormy weather yesterday
here in Tulsa.

We had quite a downpour the night before last along with some
spectacular lightning that knocked the power out in the area where our
plant is, and we had to send everyone home in the morning. Broken Arrow
(which is just southeast of Tulsa), reportedly had anywhere from 5-8
inches of rain in about three hours! Needless to say there was some
homes that got flooded.

Speaking of water, and seeing how it's Friday, Ramon Dehoyos sent me a
Windows Media file of something that a man in Clearwater Florida has
created and patented, it's pretty cool! Check it out at:

Here's the mans web page:

I'm going to follow this just to see if anything becomes of it...
