Hi Technos,
I have an intrusive job to do and I need to reduce the annular ring as much as possible. Due to design constraints, the only option left is to reduce its size by opening the solder mask to a smaller diameter than the ring. Would this affect long term reliability? We're talking about products that will see harsh environment, 10 years of warranty.
Is there any IPC requirement covering this issue, namely how much of the annular ring should be exposed to soldering?
Thanks,
Ioan
