Phil,

In a previous company (too many moons ago to count) we used a thixotropic (thick) version of the AR coating to seal connectors. check with your coating supplier to see if they have something like this that you can use.

hi,

sorry if i wasn't clear about this. what i'm looking for are ways to
seal off the pin-to-header interface so that conformal coating won't
wick up the leads and contaminate the connector pin contact (mating)
surface).

Subject: [TN] conformal coat masking

hi,

we are using several qss-050-01-l-d samtec surface mount connectors on a
printed wiring assembly that is conformal coated with a choice of either
an ar or a pur material. the connector pin/header interface is not
sealed, so the conformal coating that must go under this connector has
an easy path to wick up the leads and contaminate the mating surfaces of
the connector. what to do?

thanks,

phil
