Dear Amol Kane and all,

Thanks for the information , sorry to ask this dump question , but want to
know

will this technology affects only in manufacturuing area or in system
design also ?
Yes google does ,but the google search gives so many information ,
Couldn't read all those things , so thought of discussing with you.

Thanks and Regards

This is a very general question Suganthi. In a nutshell Nanotechnology is
working with materials at a 10-9 m scale. It is literally building the
component atom by atom. It is so revolutionary because the properties of
the bulk elements change at such a small level. Most current research in
nanotechnology is focused on manufacturing single walled and multi walled
carbon nanotubes. When regular materials are "doped" with these carbon
nanotubes, the scientists have the ability to changes the fundamental
properties of that material (e.g. Increased conductivity, lower MP and so
on). Semiconductors have been silicon based till now. With nanotechnology,
there is a potential for carbon based semiconductors with maybe advanced
properties than silicon. For more info Google the phrase and I am sure it
will link you to umpteen websites that explain carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and
related researches.
Specifically, India is a country (amongst others) that has shown great
interest in Nanotechnology of late. IIT Mumbai is setting up a
nanotechnology research centre in Powaii. So you can probably contact them
if you need more info too.

Hope this helps,

Dear All,

Pls explain me about nanotechnology ? How does it effect the
semiconductor field ?

Thanks and Regards
