my experience is that black was used for "light-tight" applications ...
it doesn't let any light get past. curious to hear from others ...

[TN] Black GFP
Hello everyone,
I've been ask by a client to explain why someone would use black material
for the PCB's instead of standard clear color.
They're main application are for aircraft either military or civilian.
I thought that in some application, historically, black material was used
in military or aerospace.
Apart black solder mask that, I've been told, could help heat dissipation,
does the black color for the PCB's material have the same impact or is it
for other reason?
What advantage do I have to use a black base material for PCB instead of
clear ones?
Thanks,
Louis Guérin, C.I.D.+
