Iceberg, What Iceberg?

The WEEE Directive was meant to be implemented on August 13, 2005.

DTI - meaning "Dithering Technical Incompetence."

Personally, this is proof that the UK is not ready for RoHS, - Thanks
goodness there is also water between the UK and Continental Europe,
otherwise you would be dragging the rest of Europe down with you.....

Kindest regards,
Arnold Offner

Dear One and All,

Having just got back from a trip to the US, a quick search on the DTi's
WEEE Site (http://www.dti.gov.uk/sustainability/weee/) resulted in me
finding the following.

Conclusions of the Implementation Review:
A paper setting out the conclusions of the DTI led review of the
implementation of the WEEE Directive, and an approach to implementing the
Directive across the UK, is now available. Final decisions on proposals
will be taken by the Government and the Devolved Administrations in the
light of stakeholder responses to this paper. Click here
<Recommendations_Paper.pdf> for details.
Input from the wider stakeholder community will be most effective if
channelled through the relevant main stakeholder/representative bodies, and
organisations are asked to use such channels wherever possible. Those whose
interests are not represented by such groups should comment direct to
[log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> no later than 21 April
2006.

Anybody got any idea what the hellfire's going on? Is this the consultation
to the long awaited UK Regulations? Is this just a consultation to the
implementation of the regulations that we haven't seen? Is there life on
mars?
