Hi Kay, IPC LF Listservers,
A Bald Eagle, and Lead Story.
LF'rs Don't read furthur if not interested.
Although I didn't go looking for where Lead Free was started, Kay I found
your comment about secondary lead poisoning of the USA Bald Eagle quite
interesting. It reminded me of Brian E's flamingo note awhile ago. I
remembered a program about thin eggs due to DDT and how the wild life
services in the Delaware, Maryland, etc area, would remove the eggs (for a
spell) so that the mothers would not crush their babies. Through wildlife
management, and some exciting techniques Eagle populations have returned.
Anyway an interesting ongoing research article about Bald Eagle lead
poisoning and a cooperative effort between hunters and government to find
and fix the problem. This is in Minnesota, and wouldn't happen in many of
our other states. In spite of Jesse the Wrestler Govenator the Minn ah sot
ians I know are a tad bit smart, slow to anger, and patient.

Also one from WI, another state with populations once related to high North
Europe.
