Hi Amol - I recommend running an FTIR analysis of the white residue. If the
material is flux/flux residue, you should be able to match the FTIR scan of
the white residue against your known flux material's FTIR signature. Good
Luck.

Hi Technetters,
I have a white residue coating all over my reflow oven innards (almost
looks like white fungus). How can I absolutely be certain that it's flux
and not anything else?are there any tests available for this? I am planning
to check the oven exhaust for correct air flow rates.....anything else I
should be looking out for?. We are using a water soluble halide free flux
and SnPb solder

Thanks in advance
