I do not have any cross sections to show you and the ones I have seen were
taken after plating. In China it is uncommon to take cross section prior to
plating (cost management is the driving interest).

As far as sharpening the die is concerned, keep in mind labor cost are very
low and labor intensive operations are very acceptable. I imagine a good
deal of work is necessary to maintain the dies.
