Good point, Lee.
Folks working on the line have been a great source of ideas for process and
manufacturing improvements everywhere I have ever worked.
I suppose if a material is punched with a tool at high enough velocity, a
clean breaking of the material in the stack is perhaps possible. Maybe it could
be done in combination with a punch tool having punch pins set all at
slightly different heights such as in a circular concentric wave or other pattern.
(I suspect that it is likely these have already been examined some time
and/or somewhere in the past)
