We saw that and white flakes, also. We solved that by qualifying a new
material which was Head and Shoulders above the rest.

One issue I keep dealing with on an ongoing basis is brush hair in the
conformal coating. We use brushing for touch up operations. once in a
while, the coating material acts on the binding agent in the brush and
makes the brush shed hairs....anyone else encountered this issue?? We
use regular artist brushes....some other material we should be looking
at?

We use natural brushes also in our conformal coating operation. We have
never had any ESD issues caused by the bristles. Another important tool
we have in place is the de-ionizing fan.

There are ESD-safe brushes, including paintbrushes. I believe they are
made of horsehair. Look in the Techni-tool catalog, or similar tool
catalogs. We use some that have blue metal handles, and the bristles are
wired together and connected to the metal handle. If the operator is
grounded, any charge built up on the brush will be drained to ground.

I read somewhere that only Llamas and Nutria (the rodents that live all
over
Louisiana) have ESD safe hair.

OK, I have not asked a stupid question all day, so I am due.

We do a fair amount of conformal coating by hand, using artist brushes.
Would you consider paintbrushes with soft nylon bristles to be ESD
hazards and if so, why?
