Hi Dave, Listservers,

I will attempt to answer your questions.
From what I can tell, Thompson's "Techstreet" was chosen by GEIA to manage their on-line document systems. Thompson is a huge company involved in selling specialized information. Personally I prefer the JEDEC site where all documents are free. JEDEC is a great organization. As far as the relationship between the Department of Defense and GEIA. In general, the government is very involved in GEIA meetings etc, however, they only get one-vote just like any other company who is a member. In the meetings we review government documents like MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38535, as well as GEIA documents. In G-12 (Solid State Devices) we meet together with JEDEC JC-13 (Government Liaison) so the lines become somewhat blurred. It's a great group and I encourage anyone interested in setting the future government/industry standards to participate.

I also want to encourage anyone interested in helping with and/or reviewing the "Hot Solder Dip" process standard to contact me.

Hope this helps

Regards,
Russ Winslow

Hi Russ, Colin, IPC LF Listservers,

Russ, Thanks!

In looking at the GEIA site I see that TECHstreet or Thomson is the web
site for the purchase or pdf downloads of this document and
other "completed projects".

http://www.geia.org/index.asp?sid=6
http://www.techstreet.com/geiagate.html

1>I was wondering if you knew the relationship between GEIA and TECHstreet.

2>Also do you know the relationship between the USA's DoD (Department of
Defense) and GEIA?

Yours in Engineering, Dave
