The temperature is the key. Most fail. Many melt. I had to give up on
this because even though I found some hi temp ones, they proved
inconsistent for range. The range decreased from about 6" to less than
1".

I suggest you contact Francois Monette at Cogiscan (_www.Cogiscan.com_
(http://www.Cogiscan.com) ). They are masters of RFID and material
handling,
specifically for our industry (RFID enabled smart feeders, MSD, etc).
RFID is the way to go, in general. Off hand, I know of RFID tags that
survive bake-out temps (per J-STD 033) but not so sure about reflow.
