Pete,
I really don't have a vendor assessment yet since the boards haven't
been sent back yet. They are shipping today so I'll have to give them
some time to get there and see what the verdict is after that. I've
asked for a Corrective Action report should they find what I identified
as over etch on some trace widths, to less than minimums, so stay
tuned... Also, just to keep it professional and such, one of the parties
that replied to this issue, just happened to be the source of these
boards. At the time I first sent the question though, they were not
aware of my findings. That being said, they are very aware now, that
this is not the kind of thing they want to have going out the door and
in places like this. As you mentioned, traces that may look ugly are not
reject able, however if they go below minimums then that's another
story. Until I have the results of their inspection, I won't know if I
was too critical or indeed on the mark for rejecting them. I'll try to
follow up on the forum when I get the final report.
Later...

Subject: Re: [TN] Board etching question for you board shops out there.

Scott,

You've received a number of explanations on the causes of ragged edges,
mousebites, (hungry mice) etc. What did the vendor say was the cause?
Did
their explanation agree with the comments of this group?

I would also want to know why these boards shipped. Did the vendor
agree
with you, are there actual violations of the requirements or are you
looking
at poor workmanship issues. (A rough trace that does not go below the
minimum is not rejectable but is ugly.)

Just my two cents worth,

Pete
