Selva As Scott said, these two finishes are different. By the way the
term
normally used is Flash Gold. Flash Gold uses electrolytically plated soft
gold over electrolytically plated nickel and thus enjoys several
advantages
over ENIG. I coauthored a paper at EXPO on this finish. I have worked
with
several clients who have migrated from ENIG to Flash Gold and have found
it
to be a great success Oddly enough, the finish is for the most part
supplied
by PCB shops in China and Taiwan. Best regards Lee J. Lee Parker, Ph.D.

are not the same. ENIG is electroless nickel under immersion gold which is
3 to 5 micron thick and it a soft gold finish. Gold flash in applied also
over nickel and is electro plated. The thickness can be made thicker than
immersion gold by increasing the time in the tank. Electro plated gold can
be either hard or soft. Scott B. Westheimer ----- Original
