I concur, although I have done much work with a true 3D High resolution
X-ray system which will give a full model of the features - I used this
in my evaluations of CAF growth to "look" at the filaments.

It ONLY costs $4K for each sample set up and about another $3K to take
the shots----------8-)

Nice one Euro - Parliament, but PLEASE don't complain when your cell
phone fails when you are calling from the Auto Bahn because the
electronics in your eco-friendly car crapped out......... you have
implemented legislation that guarantees quality issues with electronics
in the short term.

Hi Amol,
This is one of the many issues coutesy of the brainless EU-parliament.
The only way to avaluate this shrinkage fissures is to x-section
them--after
you do this, you need to make a judgment [great for consultants!?] of
whether
or not the crack tips provide a stress riser for any operational loading
conditions.
