The final two letters of the directive designator vary based on which language it is transcribed in.
English uses European Community, so the directive is 2002/95/EC
Germany uses Europäischen Gemeinschaft, so the directive number is 2002/95/EG
Etc, etc.
If you look at this link, which I had originally sent out a couple weeks back, you can look at all the translations and see all the variations for the final two letters.

How about a simple misprint by someone - the directives use an EC suffix
