And that is just for the UK! Each country gets to set their own rates
as I understand it. Get out the checkbook!

Worse than I thought, looks like it is now due "on demand" with a fine
of up to US$9000 for non compliance with the data request. You also need
to keep compliance records for 4 years from the time the product is put
on the market.

I am attaching a hilited PDF of the UK document RoHS Regs Draft Guidance
August 2005. PDF which will get to Tom and Dominic but will be stripped
off of the forum mail, so anyone else wants a copy ping me.

Hi Tom/Lead Free Network,

It came out of a UK reference, I will have to find it over the weekend
as I am unbelievably busy right now and it will take a while to go
through the docs, expect an answer Monday/Tuesday.

John,
Do you have a reference for the "10 working days to get it to them"?
I've never noticed that requirement before.

Best regards,

They actually don't have to do a thing; the proof of compliance is with
the producer. When they ask you for compliance data I believe you have
10 working days to get it to them...............

Hi,

I'm working for a little electronic manufacturer and we are working hard
to be RoHS compliant for July 2006. We are working to avoid
cross-contamination with lead but what I'm asking is,

how the European Community will do to be sure that the products sold in
Europe are really lead-free?

Will they have a kind of police who will verify and test the composition
of the products?

If yes, what will be the consequences if they found a banned substance?

Thank you

Dominic
