The WEEE directive indicates that from now until forevermore, Electrical
and electronic equipment cannot be thrown in the trash, it must be
recycled.
WEEE compliance means that it is labelled properly, that you have
registered in the countries that it is sold in, and the recycling
agencies that receive your product at the end of its life are able to
get the appropriate documentation from you if and when they need it and
request it, on how to recycle your product. Achieving WEEE compliance
does not mean that your PC can now be tossed in the trash.

Achieving RoHS compliance also does NOT mean that your PC can now be
tossed in the trash. It still has to be recycled. It only means that
it might be easier to recycle it, because it doesn't have the hazardous
substances in it.

For a lot more info on this, search the archives of the LeadFree IPC
forum.

Sorry. That is exactly what I want, that my PCB cannot be thrown in the
garbage ( till the time comes when it is fully WEEE compliant ).

The symbol with the garbage can would seem to indicate just the
opposite, that you cannot throw it away because it has toxic materials.

Subject: [TN] WEEE symbol

Hi Technetters;

I am looking for a good example of a WEEE symbol to place onto my PCB's.

I can just place the letters "WEEE" in Silkscreen with a stroke thru it
but that would look a bit cheesy.

I want it symbolic. I believe what I saw was the pictoral garbage can
with a hand reaching to it, then a stroke across it.

Any refs to pics of one would be appreciated. I will then make a SS
symbol for it in my lib.

Thanks & Regards
TDK
