Hi Dave!

How about taking some "Bread-board" and cutting it to the sizes that you
need? That is of course assuming the connector is on a .100" grid.

If that sounds like it might work, here's a link that has some .062"
thick, 8.5" X 17" FR4 bread-board that has .042" dia. holes drilled on
.100" grid for around $25.00 each:

They would be reusable too!

Kind Regards,

Subject: Re: [TN] Solder "Stop the Wicking" Plugs

Hi Mike! Absolutely! I have a designer who is connecting two pwbs with
one
connector. The connector "tails" protrude thru the pwbs to the outer
surfaces (basically a pwb/connector/pwb sandwich). These tails need to
remain free of solder but experience has proven that I'll get solder
wicking on the tails unless I "block" the solder flow. As Bev suggested,
I
could use a temporary maskant material but I was looking for more of a
high
temperature "plug" I could slide onto the tail field, do my soldering
and
then pull of the plug for flux residue cleaning. Somebody on TechNet had
recommended a couple of companies who made various plug configurations
but
I can't find those notes. Hope this gives you a better visual.

Dave,
Can you elaborate a little more as far as the type of connector?
Might dislodge some cobwebs from the 'reference library'....

Subject: [TN] Solder "Stop the Wicking" Plugs

Hi TechNet! I know I have asked this question before but I either am
still
having Xmas cookie withdrawals or just have not drank enough Diet Coke
today and I can't find my old notes. Can someone please direct me to a
source of "don't let the solder wick up the connector tail" plugs/boots?
I
have a connector I don't want the "connector tails" to have solder on
them
and need to "block" the solder wicking action with some type of plug
and/or
sleeve.

TIA!
