Hi PB-Paul, IPC LF Listservers,
Thanks for the section and page number. When I opened the pdf and did a
search: ink, cartridge, or ink cartridge didn't yield a hit. Oh Well for
Adobe pdf search abilities. I do have the printed copy so I found it.
OK I kind of agree For Now that ink cartridges, if shipped separately and
not supplied with the original product, do not fall under RoHS. If shipped
with the product then I think we have an EU RoHS problem. This seems like
something that will eventually lose in EU Court since ink cartridges are a
continual prime part of making any printer perform.
If you read this guidance document it is kind of wishy washy. If the
cartridge is left in the EEE then it is covered under WEEE. If it is
discarded separately it of course isn't an EEE all by itself. Being in two
places at the same time (Non-exempt, and exempt) isn't a good place.
So I agree, yet the court isn't yet in session for a few more years on
these topics.
Yours in Engineering, Dave
