Karl -

When I started in this profession I was below the median age for its
members at the tender age of 30. Now 10+ years later, I am still
slightly below median age for this profession. Over the next 5-10 years
as the "baby boomers" start to retire replacing them will become a
nightmare for employers. If we want to keep our jobs, we must provide an
effective and efficient solution to our employers needs; to do that
there need to be enough trained designers to fill most if not all of the
available positions in the industry. By training replacements for those
of us looking at retirement we are guaranteeing our future.

Subject: Re: [DC] Design Software to use as a teaching tool???

I have read with a teary eye, to all you wonderful people that want to
make
the world a better place by transferring your knowledge to others.
Bravo
!

But the reality is, the PCB designers are in short supply, demand is
great.
My price has been going up. This is not a bad thing ? The
economics are great for us lowly PCB designers to finally have our day
and
make a few bucks.
This is not our fault that corporations have been greedy, and laid off
the
people that were learning our trade. They made these choices, and are
going to pay for it heartily now and in the future.

The job you save may be your own, ... go ahead train someone.. they will
take your job (or mine).
