In terms of schematics...

On the first page there is a big block diagram of the functionality.
Each "block" can then be pushed into, to reveal greater levels of detail
down to the part level.

This can be helpful where a page can be copied around for duplicate
circuits.
For example 8 IO pages that represent 8 identical channels.

We also use the same concept for Altera and Xlinix designs. Big overview,
push in for details.

The only draw back from a PCB designers viewpoint is that often there is
"mapping" of signal names. Such that on one page the signal is "x" and then
as that signal goes into another block, it may become signal y, with the top
block controlling the final name, "z". You didn't want to know that.
