Item 9 of Article 1 of the RoHS directive clearly states the situation

with batteries:

(9) This Directive should apply without prejudice to

Community legislation on safety and health requirements

and specific Community waste management legislation,

in particular Council Directive 91/157/EEC of 18

March 1991 on batteries and accumulators containing

certain dangerous substances (1).

Batteries come under the battery directive.

Under the WEEE directive, batteries are one of the items that must be

removed prior to recycling.

Regards,

Chris

Subject: [LF] Lithium batteries and RoHS

Good morning all,

A question has been raised about lithium "coin cell" batteries and if

they are RoHS compliant. I have not been able to find anything on the

Panasonic site for the BR2330 or CR2330 batteries.

Is there a layman's list of items exempted that details batteries?

Phil Nutting
