Ted,
We used copper on this alloy in order to make it solderable.
I'm not very familiar with plating in detail,  but as far as
I remember we used a nickel strike followed by sulphuric acid
sulphate copper bath. The plated copper was 50 micrometers 
thick (yes, that thick!). Upon that a gold flash. The plating 
company said it was a piece of cake.

We use copper plating even on aluminium and Kovar.
