Tom,

We are changing the revision by adding a "G" prefix under the assumption
that our individual piece parts will unlikely go through enough revision
to get much past Rev C. We also assume the alloy is a don't care as
long as it does not contain lead. OK, it is an over simplified system
and I'm going to take some heat for this position, but "it depends" on
what your needs are. Do you need to track the alloy down to the last
molecule?

Parts that are already compliant will go from Rev A to Rev GA.
Parts that require an manufacturer's part number change will go from Rev
A to Rev GB.
Parts not converted will stay at a single rev letter.

This allows us to review a BOM quickly for the "problem" parts.

Phil

Subject: [TN] Part number controll for RoHS

How are companies and/ or individuals handling the part number control
(MRP) for leaded and leadfree parts? Specifically the same part in 2
different alloys. Thanks you in advance for your ideas.
