Computer room or flooring have zinc whiskers due to galvanized steel
surfaces and if nothing disturbs the whisker it just waves in the wind.
Unfortunately when flooring is removed for new cables or maintenance,
these whiskers are broken off getting sucked up into rather large Ac-Dc
power supplies. It gets very exciting resulting in quite spectacular
displays when cm long whiskers a lite across gate drain leads of high
voltage MOSFETs being fed by hundreds of micro farads at 400V. One does
not need to be in a dark room when this occurs. An exciting exothermic
reaction is an understatement.
