I've just expended my "good idea" quota. I'm done for the year <grin>

Excellent idea, like the commercial says: Brilliant!

To make drawings less cluttered we have resorted to calling out a QMS
(Quality Management System - internal ISO-9001 document) with all the
"default" board attributes with any exceptions noted on the prints.
This allows us to change one document and affect all product and keep
the notes from becoming overwhelming.

Mike,

I would also mark:
* any reference to internal standards
* instructions clarifying any funky ECO, that adds parts
non-existent in the artwork, that are assembled in weird positions. If
this is not the case, I would still mark a history of the revisions and
the ECO numbers
* any reference to instructions on components that have special
forming
* who provides the serial number structure (customer or CEM) and
reference to the documentation on how to create the labels

Besides that, I will revise our instruction set, to include some of
Richard's notes.

Regards,
Ioan
