I am aware of the following materials:

Delmat CDM ESD 68610 & CDM ESD 68940 (mfd by by Vonn-Roll Isola)
http://www.vonroll-isola.com/

Durostone CAS761 (mfd by Roechling Plastics, Permali Composites Division)
http://www.permali.com/english/framset_permali_en.htm

Duropol IGM-L200 (mfd by Vonn-Roll Isola)
http://www.vonroll-isola.com/

Glastic CBC-C (mfd by Glastic Corp)
http://www.glastic.com/

Not that there are other variants of these materials, but these are the
"anti-static" variants..

In comparing the performance specs of all these materials, they are so
close, it comes down to cost (at least in my opinion). I have found I can
get the best pricing on Duropol, with Durostone being the most expensive by
far. But, diff't people may get diff't pricing from diff't vendors. It is
also effected by what sheet size you are willing to take. Standard sheet
sizes are rather large.

You can get costs from most any plastics supplier or solder fixture shop.

Hi, David. And Happy Friday, Technet!

Try Durostone. Be sure to spell it correctly (not Durastone)if you look up
its material properties. There are others.
An expert in this is Glenn Hawkins at DMI Pallet, Inc. This guy knows more
about the properties of these types of materials than their inventors do.
And not only that, DMI Pallet makes the best fixtures in the world for
reflow, for wave solder, for rework, for anything. Superb quality and
service and the lowest price in the nation. I am unabashedly this company's
biggest fan, and no, I do not own any stock in the company, and no, he is
not my brother-in-law or cousin. I do not ordinarily plug a product on the
technet, but this company is so good at what they do that I am making this
exception. Glenn has more tricks for clamping substrates, reducing thermal
shock, etc. than you would believe. Contact him at
[log in to unmask] Check out their methods at
http://dmipallet.com/. It is a very informative site.
The Durostone products he uses have had very little warpage in thicknesses
greater than about 3mm for conventional size circuit boards in conventional
reflow or wave solder processes. For larger sizes I recommend at least 6mm
thick to ensure no warpage. I just purchased several 70" long by 14" wide
reflow fixtures to use on very long flex circuit strips with lead-free
reflow at 250 deg. C. They have withstood several hundred passes through the
reflow, and show no signs of warpage whatsoever. The material is available
as ESD-compliant, either conductive or dissipative.
Glenn does sell just the material in various thicknesses, or he will machine
it for you. I have been using this company as a fixture source for more than
15 years, and I just cannot say enough good things about them. They can
design a pallet or fixture in a day and send you a confirmation drawing,
build it the next day, and you will have it in two days, if necessary.

Subject: [TN] High temp material

Hello all,

Would anyone recommend a high-temp material that can:

Be machined for various fixtures and chucks Can withstand lead-free oven
profiles Be used for 100 or more thermal cycles and still maintain its form
(down to 1mil tolerance) Does not absorb too much heat (compared to a metal)

Thank you in advance,

David
