        Hi Randy:
This is an idea. Make a template slightly larger
than the area needed to be cleaned ( 5/8" ) and place it over the area.
Use a wide solder iron tip, that has been sharpened, to scrap off the
solder mask. It should be a very fast operation, maybe twenty seconds
per.
        Regards,
        Ramon

You can use laser and solder by hand - laser can/usually is costly for
this type of rework. Ask your fab house to repair for you by hand -
taking mask off a tooling land/hand tinning is not hard. There are also
some repair houses that will do this also.

Subject: [TN] Solder Mask Removal

Hey y'all,

We have several hundred boards that are supposed to have the solder
mask
removed for around a mounting hole on the back side of the board. The
fab house missed. We are faced with a total remake if I cannot find
some way to remove the solder mask relatively easy. Most are still fab
boards, but I do have some that are assembled.

Any ideas would be appreciated. The clear area has to be approx 1/2 "
dia. (is for grounding)
