Hi CA-Chuck, IPC LF Listservers,
<The humor is not quite as macabre as all that. For the last few
generations militaries have been less inclined to kill their enemies on
the battlefield. It is a greater burden on the enemy if his combatants
are merely disabled - it puts a greater strain on their resources.
Burying a dead body consumes fewer precious resources of time and
material than does caring for and rehabilitating a wounded one. That is
why ammunition keeps getting smaller and smaller.>
Although this is off our LF topic, it is interesting from a technical
perspective.
On the first part, you are right. When the wounded come home or come back
to a hospital the REAL cost or burden of War becomes a longer term strain
on the locals. They have to long term tend to those that have been damaged.
I am in favor of that as a deterent to Bloody Blair, and George III's
excessive bravado and hyping of war. Yes Yes I know Tony the Terrific got a
BBC person let go for saying he hyped. Death of another seems far too easy
for the flag wavers to keep on waving. As an analogy, it is interesting
that during process or product improvement efforts that the best work is
done when persistent problems exist. When a problem is sporadic and then
disappears sporadically it is hard for anyone to be interested or devote
resources. BTW With Lead Free, ROHS compliancy, we are going to go through
this same process of persistent problems vs sporadic problems.
The second part I don't see connnected to anything that I know.
<That is why ammunition keeps getting smaller and smaller.>
Chuck, write to me separately on this one since I won't respond on list
since it is really off our LF topic.
Yours in Engineering, Dave
