Thank you for the link to the presentation at the National Academy.   The debate between Gordon and Ted Smith brings to mind an enjoyable quote: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity . . . "

Perhaps recycling is not a science, but I think it is better practiced as a business than as a religion.  Reform Superfund and the USA General Mining act and recycling will fix itself.
