Matt,
You will probably find numerous schools of thought on this subject.
And as Doug Pauls says "it depends".
I do not let corners limit my routing capabilities, but always am careful to make sure the trace width and routing will not adversely effect the manufacturability of the PCBA.
You will need to understand the process being used and what effects corner routing will have.
Trace width, pad size and shape, etc. all will have effect on the yield impact that following "non-standard" practices will have.
Volume of manufacturing, end use, rework requirements and more should all have impact on your decision.
In other words look at your design, discuss with your manufacturing and do what works best.
Most important is to communicate, and then if it does not effect the manufacturability, then why not.
hope it helps,
FNK

Was wondering what people's thoughts/opinions were about routing from corners of pads.

Thanks,

Matt
