Hello Gil,

We use a SCS 4398 Select Spray Coating System and it works pretty good.
We have a spray head and a needle dispense head that rotates and tilts.
We've found that this is a very important feature. It's great for
getting in and under tight components.

We have a hard time getting good coverage on boards that have a high
topography say greater than 1 1/2". The maintenance on the machine isn't
too bad, not much worse that cleaning up a spray gun.

We've had the machine for six years and have had very few maintenance
issues. I'm not sure if SCS still makes these machines or not.

Selective area coaters are not the end all to masking but it really does
reduce it a bunch. I've found that the more creative you programmer is
the less masking you have to do.

Having said all of that, the people I've talked to within the industry
speak very highly of the PVA systems. I believe either one could work
for you.

I hope some of this helps.

Subject: [TN] Selective conformal coating machine

Hello,

Currently we are hand masking and spray coating. We intend to buy a
selective conformal coating machine from Asymtek OR PVA. Do you have
experience with these machines and can recommend which one to buy? Any
recommendation on other companies or other technique?

Thanks,
