Doesn't plumbing solder have to be lead-free? Maybe with your Dad's suggestions we can really make lead-free work!

Well Ramon, just for you, I went and asked my Dad.

Based on his experience with flux and sweating copper pipes, you have to
rough up the copper pads on your board with 80 grit sandpaper, paint on a
good heavy layer of flux with a brush on both the pad and component, and
make sure you hold the propane torch on the pad and lead a good long time
to make sure it is up to temperature, then apply your wire solder, then
heat some more to make sure it wetted right. Don't clean it and in a
little while the green patina will form on the copper.

Let me know how it works for you.
