MIL-P-18177 is a pre-curser to MIL-P-13949. In the early years of epoxy
systems, they did not have flame resistance, which was found to be an
issue quickly. When the DOD began to develop a specification for a
flame resistance system, they opted to create a new spec - MIL-P-13949
rather that revise the old spec as several manufactures still were
producing to 18177 and could not produce a new epoxy at that time.
Eventually (1992) this spec was cancelled without replacement.

Subject: [TN] MIL-P-18177

Good morning all,

I have a customer spec'ing a PCB from laminate meeting MIL-P-18177/GEE.
I
can't seem to find a copy of the MIL-P-18177 spec but an internet search
turns up reference to this spec and FR-4/G10 materials. None of my
material
spec sheets make reference however. Can anyone shed some light on this
requirement.

TIA

John Parsons
