Here is another possibility I used 20 years ago that worked well. Tell
your kids the truth, make them promise to have it as a family secret and
then agree to pretend it IS real. Worked super for our three kids.

Sadly, you misunderstand. When you become a Dad, there is a secret
ceremony (can't say more) where you are initiated into the "Helpers
Club".
You become an authorized agent for the Easter Bunny, Santa, etc. You do
most of the work, then the principal (Santa/Easter Bunny) quickly comes

to check the quality of your work, kinda like the building inspector

you finish a building. Make sure your egg hiding / present placement is
up
to code. They just move really really fast, so most people miss that
part.
So, sadly, you have deprived yourself of years of enjoyment because of a
childhood misunderstanding. I suggest you go out right now and find the
biggest chocolate bunny you can find (might be hard this time of year)
and
gobble it up. Ears first of course.
You must not have kids. Or, you missed the notice of the ceremony.
