The Lead-Free guru at our facility did a lot of research into the
different alloys. He saw something interesting when he hand soldered
with Sn100 after hand soldering with SAC 305, the appearance of freeze
lines. We have no data on the reliability on the solder joint or what
may have caused the strange looking joint. I will send a picture to
Steve for posting.

That sounds logical... in a twisted sort of way.

(ridiculous answer for the day)

Buy 1200 lbs of each, on Wednesday DOE test SAC 305, dump and clean then
on
Thursday DOE test Sn100, dump and clean then on Friday DOE test SAC 305
again (cause you never can have enough data), dump and clean then on
Monday
DOE test Sn100 again.

By then you will either;

1. Have enough data to find a suitable mix for your facility
2. Be fired for wasteful spending including time wasted
3. Been berated by those persons who had to put up with you making them
dump
and replace the unit as well as recycling or waste disposal personnel.
4. Just have had enough and begin considering a nice relaxing
telemarketing
position

Oh, by the way, my suggestions are always free, no thanks necessary...

Franklin
