Most of the information passed on TechNet is in the public domain; it is
stuff we learn from tech articles and seminars and stuff that "everyone
knows" who has been around awhile. I don't think anyone is passing on
intellectual property via tech net, no matter where they come from.


The definition of "intellectual property" is real soft.   If someone does not know a particular valuable fact, and wants to know it, to allow him/her to prerform their job correctly, you assist that person by telling them... whether the information is in the public domain, or not.... these days, with the internet containing most of the information (and mis-information) in the world, very little is not "public domain".


Did you mean to imply that other cultures (other than American?) are more
open and sharing ?? ..... Actually, I meant exactly the reverse... Technet is largely a north american, and western world dominated forum... yet, where are most PCB's manufactured today?
